This 4 hour (1/2 day) basic handgun course (level 2) is the second in a series of introductory courses designed for new semi-automatic handgun owners or those with limited handgun shooting experience. In this course, students will briefly review firearms safety rules and handgun fundamentals and be introduced to new topics including: emergency reloads, tactical reloads, and clearing stoppages (aka “jams”). This course takes place on the range only.
Prerequisites: Basic Handgun Course – Level 1 or equivalent course as determined by Basic Firearms Training. Students must not have had any safety violations during the level 1 course.
Things you need to bring to the class:
Valid Driver License or Identification Card
Pen or pencil
Magazine pouch or accessible pants pocket (hold at least 1 magazine)
Handgun(s) that you want to shoot (semi-automatic only)
At least 2 magazines for each firearm
300+ rounds of ammunition (the more the merrier)
Camp or other chair to sit on during discussion / demonstration
Positive attitude and an open mind
In order to maintain a safe and sterile classroom training environment, we ask that you do NOT bring any ammunition onto the range until told to do so (leave in your vehicle). We will be using training and real firearms to practice (before live fire) and do not want to have a live ammunition introduced into the training environment until it is time to live fire. You will be instructed on when to bring your ammunition onto the range.
Safe. Confident. Effective.
